The HCOUPER (High COmputational University PERformance) is an integrated system, that provides computational services to the members of Civil Engineering Department of Aristotle University Thessaloniki in order to run applications demanding in computational time, storage capacity and memory. It is a multi-user environment running both Linux & Windows OS by dynamically allocating computational resources where needed.
The business logic of the system involves a VPN server with enhanced encryption capabilities and multiple VPN connections, a network backbone 10Gbit (Ethernet or optical fiber) with remote web management, an application server in a cluster for parallel-cloud computing with two Intel Xeon® quad-core CPU (2.26Ghz, 8M Cache, 5.86 GT/s QPI, 60W TDP, Turbo, HT, 1066MHz Max Memory) with 48GB RAM memory installed, running on Linux OS and a huge storage array NAS & SAN 12 ΤΒ (6 GB SAS 15K+ 8 GB SAS near line) to store encrypted data of numerical analyses. HCOUPER is also running official licenses of highly sophisticated commercial (i.e. ANSYS, ABAQUS, SAP2000) and open-source (Opensees, Zeus-NL) finite element software.
Access is provided to the members of the Civil Engineering Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and particularly to:
